Haeyun Kim is a versatile composer and collaborator who specializes in music for film, dance, and theatre in addition to the concert hall.
As a music educator and director, she founded ‘coMUSICation’ with sponsorship from the Alsop Family Foundation. The program creates a platform on which composers and children further their musical journey together through teaching collaborations and events.
A native of South Korea, Haeyun earned her Bachelor’s degree from Seoul National University and Master’s in Music and film scoring at New York University, where she studied with Michael Patterson and Justin Dello Joio., She studied with Robert Cuckson at the Mannes School of Music where she was named winner of 2019’s Martinu Prize, which comes with a premiere by the Mannes Orchestra. From September 2020, she has studied with Michael Gandolfi at New England Conservatory, pursing her DMA degree. Beyond her studies and work with coMUSICation, Haeyun Kim has also worked as an orchestrator and arranger in many projects and enjoys being equally comfortable in the film and concert music worlds.
